This project will assist in the development of individualized diabetes education, which may lead to increasing the knowledge and compliance of patients with diabetes.\Methods: This study was conducted with UMC patients who have been diagnosed with type-2 diabetes.

The CDC quiz is an 11-item, two-part quiz that asks patients about their age, pregnancy status, and sex, work, travel, and health/high risk behaviors.

Discussion: While the majority of the participants report appropriate knowledge of diabetes, no assessment of knowledge was completed. Due to the number of routine health visits for chronic conditions, a physician may play a pivotal role in the dietary health of their patients.

Future studies modify the survey and collect such data. The perceived expertise of the primary care physician is a variable in where patients obtain their nutritional guidance.
